Found a NEW Vice!!! Gambling!
It was Mai's 23rd birthday this weekend!!!
FRIDAY:
I ruined her beautiful house with "tacky" decorations. [I still think they were fabulous. ] Mai did the Hammer dance. We sang "Happy Birthday". Unfortunately we forgot to cut the cake. But that just meant more for those who came in the morning!
SATURDAY:
After a slow start, some delays and a little bit of confusion, we made it to Fallsview Casino (apparently there are 2 casinos in Niagara now?! ).
There was a very strange man in the lobby. He was mostly naked and possibly painted gold. He reminded me of a certain talentless mime from the Taste of the Danforth last summer. Although, we contemplated taking pictures with him, we chickened out cause we thought that he might be the next American Psycho.
We went up to our hotel room - we had to go through a set of locked doors to get to our locked door. Very weird. But secure.
They gave us a "Smoking Room"; Apparently they didn't get the memo about me quitting [cold turkey... it was difficult, but with love & support from my friends... I made it!].
There was a lovely view of the Falls from our hotel room - A lively debate ensued RE: the moral ethics of the garish light show behind the Falls.
Later that night we went to Rumours Night Club - While we were waiting to get in - we saw several men get escorted out for fighting. When in the coatcheck line, we saw 3 entirely different fights break out. This is what I would imagine a glorified Orillia Club to be (does Orillia have any clubs???)
We still managed to have some good laughs (thanks to a certain Faerie & His Lady).
SUNDAY:
The next afternoon, we finally hit the slots...
I learned 3 things:
1. don't switch your bet at the last second
2. stop betting on "5" - even the JOKER came up and the 5 was still cold!
3. never leave Nicole unsupervised!
We capped the weekend with a trip to Castle Dracula: I nearly broke Nicole's arm and screamed til Mai was deaf in one ear. The guys who were supposed to be scaring us actually had to push me and Nicole forward to keep us going through the house. Afterwards, they found Mai crouched in a ball on the floor - and "accidently" kicked her. [Someone FINALLY gave her Birthday Beats!]
To continue to torment my weak heart, we went to see "Boogeyman", which despite its unpromising title still had a very enticing leading man...
Although, the Boogeyman wasn't that scary looking - I was still hiding behind my coat and had to stop eating popcorn... all in all, I had super-fun!!!
I hope you did too Mai... do you want to share my shortnin' bread?
